Am I a jerk?

Oftentimes, individuals are trying to prove to their partner that they are good, yet resentment and anger grow because they are trying to prove something (to someone else) that they have not fully addressed within themselves; they have not yet clarified what good behavior looks like for them, and end up living out someone else’s preferred behavior for them. When our behavior is not in alignment with our beliefs, we feel trapped, controlled, sad, mad, …

In therapy, you will learn to plant your feet on solid ground. You will clarify your intentions, desires, and values, in a way you can be still, knowing you are making good choices for yourself and those you love. Resentment melts, hearts and minds grow, individuals and partnerships mature, and confidence and joy ensue. As we clarify our own minds—learn who we are and what we desire—we no longer live to prove ourselves to someone else. A sense of freedom envelops us. We become the primary choosers of our lives, less reactionary to our environment; a Self filled with peace and greater capacity for love—someone who is good.
