forgiveness

120mm Film 2018

When Nelson Mandela was released from 26 years of imprisonment, he said to himself, “As I walked out the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew if I didn't leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I'd still be in prison” — if he did not forgive his accusers and tormentors, though he were free, he would remain imprisoned for the rest of his life.

If there are parts of you that are struggling to forgive deep regret, heartache, and injustice, or to release consuming hate and contempt, forgiveness is possible—for yourself and for others. In therapy, one learns to let compassion in, and then, to let it reign.

You have it in you to liberate yourself, and a life more joyous and abundant than you have ever known lies ahead.
